Commercial Wallpaper for Designers

Built for commercial interiors

Commercial designers work to a different standard. The wallcovering has to survive scrubbable cleaning protocols, meet the building's fire rating, hold color through years of UV exposure, and carry documentation the GC and owner's rep can actually file. Applied Coverings prints custom commercial wallpaper on Type II substrates with the spec sheets included — not as an afterthought. Our trade program supports commercial designers across hospitality, healthcare, retail, corporate, and education sectors with material samples, dedicated rep support, and lead times that fit a real project schedule.

We manufacture in San Jose with offices in San Francisco and Los Angeles. Every order ships from our U.S. facility, with free nationwide shipping and the option of direct delivery to job sites.

Verticals we serve

Each vertical has a deeper page with material recommendations and project considerations:

  • Hospitality wallpaper — hotels, resorts, restaurants, and bars. Type II durability with branded photo-print options for chains and lifestyle brands.
  • Healthcare wallpaper — hospitals, clinics, dental offices, and wellness spaces. Cleanable, hygienic, and biophilic-design-friendly.
  • Retail wallpaper — boutiques, flagship stores, showrooms, and pop-ups. Branded prints with fast rollout turnaround.
  • Corporate — office reception, conference rooms, executive suites. Custom branded murals and pattern walls.
  • Education — K–12, higher ed, and early childhood. Durable, washable, design-forward.

Type II durability and the ratings that matter

Our two commercial substrates carry Type II classification:

  • Suede Type II ($6/sqft) — soft brushed face, Class A fire rating per ASTM E84, scrubbable per ASTM F793, ideal for hospitality lobbies, restaurants, and corporate interiors where touch matters.
  • Terralon Smooth Type II ($6.50/sqft) — LEED Platinum-compliant, recycled content, smooth printable face, the right call when the project has sustainability targets or LEED certification on the table.

Both meet the Federal Specification CCC-W-408D Type II requirements: total weight, scrubbability, abrasion resistance, breaking strength, tear resistance, and adhesion. Full test documentation is available on request through your trade rep. For a deeper look at material specs across the line, see our commercial wallpaper page.

Volume capacity and lead times

Standard production is 5–7 business days for residential-scale orders. Commercial volume — full-floor installs, multi-property rollouts, branded chain refreshes — runs on a project schedule we'll quote up front. Most large-scale jobs land in the 2–4 week range from artwork approval, with milestone deliveries scheduled to match install crews. Rush production is available; the earlier we know the schedule, the more we can do to compress it.

Custom design support

Three workflows depending on what the project needs:

  • Existing pattern, project palette — pull from our ~490-pattern library and re-color to the brand or interior palette. We provide a digital proof before production.
  • Custom photo or artwork — upload through our custom upload tool, or send hi-res files directly to your rep. We handle scaling, color matching, and panel layout.
  • Commissioned design — for branded chains and signature interiors, we work with your design team to develop a custom repeat pattern or wall mural from scratch.

Color matching is done against Pantone or a physical sample. Panel layouts are reviewed before printing so the seams fall where the install plan calls for them.

How we handle a commercial project from start to finish

The typical flow on a commercial spec, from the first call to install:

  1. Pre-spec consult. Quick conversation about the project — square footage, vertical, performance requirements, install timeline, sustainability targets. This often saves a substitution down the line.
  2. Sample pack. Free samples on the materials and patterns you're considering, shipped to your studio. Type II materials always include a swatch large enough to scrub-test in front of the owner.
  3. Digital proof. Once the design is locked, we send a digital proof showing color, scale, and panel layout. Revisions are free and unlimited within reason.
  4. Production. 5–7 business days for residential-scale; 2–4 weeks typical for floor- or property-scale orders. We hold the install date and ship to align with it.
  5. Install support. Panel labels, install instructions per material, and on-call rep contact for any install-day questions.
